Contest Beat

Edit: You might notice we are down to 72, however this appears to be a FeedBurner/GoogleReader bug, where readers from the later aren’t being counted. It is hitting blogs everywhere. Phew!

Back on October 27 I made a little post to encourage you guys to subscribe to the RSS feed so that we could crack 100 readers, a fairly significant milestone for any newish blog in my opinion. Well today I am pleased to announced we finally did that, and if you check out the chicklet in the footer we are sitting on 106. I am pretty sure that announcing the winner of the $100 cash contest has something to do with it, and that’s all good. Now I just have to keep all you guys subscribed!

On another note we only just recently broke in to the top 30,000 blogs on Technorati (it sounds a lot less impressive than it is) and have since been charging through the 20,000’s, with a rank right now of 23,268. Once we get a big closer, I might have to start a big push to the top 10,000 - man that would be sweet.

And just to complete what has turned into somewhat of a traffic update post here, although our Alexa rank is currently 215,757, Contest Beat has been sitting on a weekly average just outside 100,000 for what seems like ages, so hopefully our overall score will be updated soon. Alexa is a funny thing though, I have sites with a much worse ranking than 200,000 that get 2x or 3x the traffic of Contest Beat (which gets about 300-400 visits per day right now). I think blogs just generally rank extremely well in Alexa for some reason.
